Role Summary
• A two-year fellowship at the Natural Resources Defense Council, one of the largest US environmental advocacy groups, supporting its partnerships with Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities. The fellow helps coordinate work with Tribal partners across NRDC's campaigns on food and agriculture, lands and oceans.
Responsibilities
• Provide strategic research, policy analysis, and writing for Nature campaigns focused on Tribal matters.
• Build and maintain partnerships with Tribal Nations, Native-led NGOs, and Indigenous communities.
• Integrate Tribal perspectives into advocacy strategies, policy positions, and public communications.
• Represent NRDC at hearings, conferences, coalition meetings, and decisionmaker venues.
Required Knowledge & Experience
• Degree: Bachelor's degree required; relevant graduate degree preferred.
• Experience: 2–4 years in Tribal engagement, policy advocacy, or legal research; internships and clinical work qualify.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with Tribal sovereignty, Indigenous governance, treaty rights, and consultation principles.
Work & Eligibility
• Term: Limited two-year fellowship.
• Travel: Up to 10% domestic travel.
