Role Summary
• A trainee Foreign Service officer with the US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service, which promotes American farm exports and food security abroad. Trainees spend 18 to 36 months working and training in Washington before being commissioned into the Foreign Service and posted to an embassy abroad — the start of a career diplomat's path.
Responsibilities
• Analyze government trade, food security, and agricultural regulatory policies.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative market analysis on global agricultural trends and commodity supply and demand.
• Assist with export promotion campaigns and foreign agricultural development initiatives.
Required Knowledge & Experience
• Degree: Master's degree (or 2 full years of graduate study) in economics, international relations, public policy, law, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
Work & Eligibility
• Initial 18 to 36 month training period in Washington, DC prior to overseas posting.
