Role Summary
• A language officer in the CIA's Directorate of Operations, using fluency in a foreign language and knowledge of its culture to support clandestine operations — translating and interpreting, and helping officers understand the people and material they work with.
Responsibilities
• Provide foreign language support through interpretation, translation, or research for intelligence operations.
• Conduct analytical research and evaluate foreign language materials.
Required Knowledge & Experience
• Required: Only the CIA's basics — U.S. citizenship and a background investigation; no degree or experience is required.
• Desired: A strong command of the foreign language(s) and English in speaking, listening, reading and writing; professional work experience as a translator or interpreter; cultural and area knowledge of where the language is spoken.
