Role Summary
• A research associate job, starting summer 2027, in the Economic Research department of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, one of the twelve regional banks of the US central bank. Aimed at recent college graduates, it supports staff economists' academic research and monetary policy analysis with data and quantitative work — a common step before an economics PhD.
Responsibilities
• Support economists across macroeconomics, microeconomics, finance, and international sections.
• Conduct statistical analysis, econometric modeling, and data programming.
• Co-author research papers and Fed publications.
Required Knowledge & Experience
• Degree: Bachelor's completed by July 2027 with strong coursework in econometrics, statistics, math, or CS.
• Skills: Experience or proficiency with R, Stata, MATLAB or Python; other programming experience a plus.
• Previous work as a research assistant a plus, but not necessary.
• Citizenship: U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents due to FOMC data access.
