Role Summary
• A spring 2027 law student volunteer position at the US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia — the only federal prosecutor's office that is also the local prosecutor, handling everything from misdemeanours to terrorism cases in the capital, plus civil suits. Law students support prosecutors or civil attorneys with research, writing and case preparation.
Responsibilities
• Conduct legal research, draft motions and briefs, and assist with trial preparation.
• Support attorneys across cases ranging from local offenses to federal financial fraud, violent crime, and civil suits.
Required Knowledge & Experience
• Education: Enrolled J.D. student with a minimum 3.0 GPA or class rank in the top half.
• Skills: Superior writing skills and outstanding academic record.
Work & Eligibility
• Eligibility: U.S. citizenship required; must pass a federal background investigation.
