Role Summary
• A full-time paralegal in the ACLU's Program on Freedom of Religion and Belief, at its national office in Washington. A paralegal supports the program's lawyers — organising case files and evidence, researching, preparing filings — on its litigation and advocacy defending religious liberty and the separation of church and state.
Responsibilities
• Cite-check, format, and proofread legal briefs, memoranda, demand letters, and discovery documents.
• Conduct legal research on Westlaw and track state legislation.
• Maintain program litigation dockets, calendars, and web content.
• Handle incoming legal assistance requests.
Required Knowledge & Experience
• Experience creating tables of contents and tables of authorities.
• Basic knowledge of Westlaw preferred.
