Fall 2026 Intern, Defense Budget Analysis

Role Summary • A fall 2026 internship in the Defense Budget Analysis Program at CSIS, one of Washington's largest bipartisan foreign policy and security think tanks. The program analyses the Pentagon's budget — what the military spends on readiness, forces and weapons purchases, and how that changes — and the intern supports its research and administration. Responsibilities • Conduct literature reviews, compile data, and assist with written reports on U.S. and international defense spending. • Perform background research, copy-editing, and citation checks across research projects. • Track defense funding legislation and assist with event preparation and administrative tasks. Required Knowledge & Experience • Interest or experience in defense budgets, national security, or defense acquisitions. • Skills: A preference for applicants with statistical and quantitative analysis skills. • Languages: Mandarin a plus, though not required.
