Role Summary
• A full-time research associate in the Economic Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, one of the twelve regional banks of the US central bank, on banking and financial markets. Research associates support the department's PhD economists with data analysis and research, and help prepare their policy briefings — a common step before graduate school.
Responsibilities
• Gather and analyze banking data, program economic models, and produce charts for economic reports.
• Participate in econometric research and contribute to Bank publications and presentations.
Required Knowledge & Experience
• Degree: Bachelor's or master's in economics, statistics, mathematics, or computer science.
• Coursework or experience in economics required; in econometrics, mathematics, statistics and computer science highly desirable.
• Skills: Stata, R, Python or Matlab highly desirable.
• Citizenship: U.S. citizen or permanent resident (with 3+ years U.S. residency); no visa sponsorship.
Work & Eligibility
• Two-year term starting summer 2027; 5 days per month remote work flexibility.
