Role Summary
• A fall 2026 legal internship at the Tahirih Justice Center, a national nonprofit giving free legal help to immigrant women and girls who have survived violence, including domestic violence and trafficking. Legal interns help staff attorneys on survivors' immigration and protection cases — research, drafting and client support.
Responsibilities
• Draft legal documents, including client declarations, legal memoranda, briefs, and client letters.
• Conduct legal research on country conditions for asylum, VAWA, SIJS, and U/T visa cases.
• Assist with court hearing and asylum interview preparation, including compiling trial binders and evidence.
• Assist attorneys with client communications, case management, and administrative processing.
Required Knowledge & Experience
• Degree: Current enrollment in an accredited law school.
• Funding: Law school externship enrollment or receipt of third-party funding.
• Languages: Spanish language skills are preferred.
Work & Eligibility
• Term: Fall 2026 semester for at least 10 weeks (300 hours total, minimum 15 hours per week).
• Eligibility: U.S. work authorization required.
