Role Summary
• An unpaid student volunteer position in the legal offices of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the federal agency that regulates futures, options and swaps markets. Students are placed with a division — enforcement, policy or another legal office — and help its attorneys with research and casework, for 12 weeks to a year.
Responsibilities
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on market regulation and enforcement matters.
• Assist agency attorneys with investigations, litigation preparation, and policy analysis.
• Review legal filings, public comments, and regulatory compliance documents.
Required Knowledge & Experience
• Status: Enrolled as a J.D. or LL.M. candidate at an ABA-accredited law school.
• Education: Completion of at least one year of law school prior to start date.
Work & Eligibility
• Duration: 12 weeks to 12 months, starting as early as August 2026.
